2degrees balance help

Why is your 2degrees balance lower after a top-up?

A top-up adds credit, but 2degrees may use some of it for an existing plan renewal or to repay a negative Prepay IOU balance. Compare the top-up value with the account history before assuming credit is missing.

An existing plan renews

Monthly and 14-day Prepay plans are set to renew at the end of their plan period. If a plan was waiting for enough credit, a top-up can supply the required balance and the plan cost can be taken.

A negative Prepay IOU is repaid

2degrees explains that money owed through Prepay IOU is deducted when the account is topped up. The new balance can therefore be lower than the value just added.

Check what happened in the 2degrees App

  1. Open Home to view the current balance and remaining calls, texts and data.
  2. Open Spend to review top-ups and transaction history from the previous 90 days.
  3. Look for a plan renewal or IOU deduction that follows the top-up.
  4. If the order value and operator history still do not match, keep the order reference and contact support.

Questions about a lower balance

Does a lower balance mean the top-up failed?

Not necessarily. A successful top-up may be followed by plan renewal or IOU repayment. Check the operator transaction history before drawing a conclusion.

Is the crypto invoice amount the same as the NZD balance?

No. The invoice is the crypto payment due to the shop; the top-up value is denominated in NZD; the resulting operator balance reflects any later account deductions.

Can this page tell which deduction occurred?

No. The recipient’s 2degrees App shows the account-specific balance and transaction history.
