One NZ settings guide
One NZ Auto Top Up vs Auto Renew
Auto Top Up adds money to the Prepay balance when it becomes low. Auto Renew pays the cost of a Prepay Plus plan from a saved card. They solve different problems, and neither describes an automatic feature of this shop.
Choose the setting by what should happen
| Need | One NZ feature | Result | Main check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keep general account balance from running low | Auto Top Up | Adds balance when the configured low-balance condition is reached. | Review the saved payment method, trigger and limits in the One NZ account. |
| Pay the next Prepay Plus plan cost | Auto Renew | Charges the saved card for the plan renewal. | Confirm the exact Prepay Plus plan and its renewal setting. |
| Add value once through One NZ’s direct channel | One NZ one-off top-up | The operator adds the chosen value to the confirmed One NZ Prepay number. | Use One NZ’s direct flow and the correct recipient number; no local catalogue product is identified here. |
Three decisions that are easy to confuse
Choose Auto Top Up
Use it when the goal is to maintain account credit for later use. It does not promise that a particular plan will renew unless that plan and its conditions are also in place.
Choose Auto Renew
Use it when the goal is to pay a Prepay Plus plan from a saved card at renewal. It is a plan setting, not merely a balance alert.
Use One NZ’s direct top-up
A one-time top-up made through the operator adds value without turning on Auto Top Up or Auto Renew. This shop does not configure those One NZ account settings.
One NZ automation questions
Does Auto Top Up pay the Prepay Plus plan directly?
It adds balance when the configured condition is met. Auto Renew is the separate setting that pays the plan cost from a saved card.
Does a one-off top-up enable either setting?
No. A one-off top-up made through One NZ’s own flow and the operator’s account automation are separate choices.
Is every Vodafone catalogue product a One NZ top-up?
No. The catalogue mapping is not assumed. Use the New Zealand collection or mobile top-up category and verify the exact operator label.
